Using Your Chair Functions
Learn how to properly adjust your office chair for maximum comfort and ergonomic support. A well-adjusted chair can prevent pain and improve productivity.
Chair Adjustment Guide
Seat Height
Adjust your seat height so your feet are flat on the floor and your thighs are parallel to the ground. Your knees should be at approximately 90 degrees.
Tip: Use the gas lift lever under the right side of your seat to raise or lower.
Backrest Tilt
The backrest tilt controls how far back your chair reclines. Adjust the tension so the backrest supports you without pushing you forward.
Tip: Turn the tension knob under the seat to increase or decrease resistance.
Lumbar Support
Proper lumbar support maintains the natural curve of your lower spine. Adjust the height and depth of the lumbar support to fit your back.
Tip: Most chairs have a knob or slider on the backrest to adjust lumbar position.
Armrest Height
Armrests should support your forearms with your shoulders relaxed. Arms should be at roughly 90 degrees when typing.
Tip: Press the button on the side of the armrest to raise or lower it.
Seat Depth
Adjust the seat depth so there is a 2-3 finger gap between the edge of the seat and the back of your knees. This prevents circulation issues.
Tip: Slide the seat pan forward or back using the lever under the front of the seat.
When to Call for Repairs
If your chair adjustments are not working properly, it may be time for a repair. Common signs include a sinking seat (gas lift issue), stuck tilt mechanism, loose armrests, or broken castors. Do not ignore these issues as they can lead to discomfort and injury.
